Call for Papers – Centre for Business Laws, NUSRL Ranchi:

The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, through its Centre for Business Laws (CBL), announces the second edition of its flagship symposium “Convergence of Law & Economics 2.0: Bankruptcy, Startups & Beyond.” This one‑day academic forum is designed to explore the evolving intersection of legal frameworks and economic realities in contemporary markets.


About NUSRL:

Established in 2010 by the State of Jharkhand, NUSRL has emerged as a premier institution imparting quality legal education. With over 700 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, the university emphasizes experiential learning through moot courts, internships, and legal aid clinics. Its alumni have distinguished themselves as judges, advocates, researchers, and academicians across India.


About the Centre for Business Laws (CBL):

The Centre is dedicated to advancing scholarship in corporate and commercial law. It fosters interdisciplinary dialogue, industry collaborations, and practical exposure to equip students and professionals with the analytical tools necessary to navigate complex regulatory environments. Through workshops, panel discussions, and research initiatives, CBL bridges the gap between theory and practice.

  • Theme: Bankruptcy, Startups & Beyond
  • Focus Areas: Insolvency regimes, startup ecosystems, investment dynamics, and regulatory innovation.
  • Participants: Legal practitioners, law firm partners, academics, researchers, and corporate professionals.
  • Objective: To facilitate dialogue between academia and industry, examining how law and economics together shape business and markets.

  • Workshop: From Disputes to Damages – Claim Drafting in Commercial Arbitration by Vikash Kumar Jha, Partner, CAM.
  • Expert Session: Transforming Credit Landscape – A Decade of IBC by Mr. Kumar Kislay, Partner, JSA.
  • Paper Presentation: Theme – Transforming Credit Landscape: A Decade of IBC with sub‑themes including CIRP timelines, recovery rates, borrower behaviour, insolvency waterfall inequities, pre‑packaged insolvency, cross‑border coordination, and creditor primacy.

Competition Timeline:

  • Abstract Submission: 1 May 2026
  • Declaration of Selected Abstracts: 3 May 2026
  • Last Date of Registration: 5 May 2026
  • Full Paper Submission: 15 May 2026
  • Final Presentation (Online): 22 May 2026

Eligibility:

  • Open to students and research scholars enrolled in UG/PG/Ph.D. courses from any Indian university.
  • Multiple entries from the same author are not permitted.

Submission & Formatting Guidelines:

  • Abstract: 450–500 words, Garamond 12‑pt, 1.5 spacing, with 5 keywords.
  • Full Paper: 5,000–7,000 words, OSCOLA 4th Edition citation style, similarity below 15%.
  • Papers must be original; AI‑generated content is strictly prohibited.
  • Presentations will be conducted online.

Registration & Awards:

  • Single Authorship: ₹500
  • Co‑Authorship (up to 2 authors): ₹400
  • Payment via NUSRL Ranchi Campus Bank (A/C No. 490710110003104, IFSC BKID0005900).
  • Awards: Top 10 papers will be published in the inaugural edition of the Corporate Laws Blog, CBL. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all.
