About Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prateek Jalan:

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prateek Jalan was born in Calcutta on April 4, 1970. He completed his schooling at Modern School, New Delhi, and graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi. He pursued law at Trinity College, University of Cambridge as a Cambridge Nehru Centenary Scholar, and later obtained his LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Enrolled as an Advocate in August 1992, Justice Jalan was also called to the English Bar from the Inner Temple, London. He commenced practice before the High Court of Calcutta and, since 1998, has primarily practiced before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court, including serving on the panel of counsel for the Union of India. He was associated with the chambers of Mr. Bhaskar P. Gupta, Senior Advocate in Kolkata, and Mr. Ashok H. Desai, former Attorney General for India, from 1998 to 2003.

His academic contributions include co‑authoring “Review of Administrative Action” in The Oxford Handbook of the Indian Constitution (2016, Oxford) and “Publishing Contracts” in Get Published! A Handbook for Writers in India (2001, Oxford).

Justice Jalan was appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court on October 22, 2018.
