2nd National IP Law Moot Court Competition 2026:

The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab proudly announces the 2nd National IP Law Moot Court Competition, 2026. Building upon the success of its inaugural edition, this competition is designed to simulate contemporary intellectual property litigation, bridging the gap between academic learning and courtroom practice.

Competition Format:

A. Memorial Qualifier Rounds:

  • Teams of two UG students.
  • Submission of memorials for both sides.
  • Strict adherence to formatting, citation, and plagiarism rules.
  • Top 16 teams qualify for oral rounds.

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. Knowledge and application of law.
  2. Depth of research and use of authorities.
  3. Clarity, structure, and coherence.
  4. Originality and analytical ability.
  5. Compliance with formatting and citation rules.

B. Oral Rounds:

  • Preliminary Rounds: Two rounds, each team argues from both sides.
  • Semi-finals & Finals: Knock-out format based on cumulative scores.

Oral Evaluation Criteria:

  1. Knowledge of facts and law.
  2. Application of principles.
  3. Advocacy skills and court etiquette.
  4. Responsiveness to judicial questions.
  5. Time management.

Tentative Schedule:

  • Release of Proposition & Guidelines: 23rd January 2026
  • Last Date of Registration: 5th February 2026
  • Memorial Submission: 20th February 2026
  • Results of Memorial Qualifier Rounds: 25th February 2026
  • Oral Rounds (Offline): 9–10th March 2026
  • Valedictory Ceremony: 10th March 2026

Registration Details:

  • Fee: ₹1500 (early bird till 27 January 2026), thereafter ₹2000 per team (exclusive of GST).
  • Deadline: 5th February 2026.

Awards & Prizes:

  • Winners: ₹12,000 + Internship at S.S. Rana & Co. + SCC Online subscription worth ₹32,000.
  • Runners-up: ₹8,000 + Internship at SpicyIP.
  • Best Memorial: ₹5,000.
  • Best Speaker: ₹5,000.
  • All Participants: One-month SCC Online access worth ₹3100.
