Surendranath Law College, Kolkata — one of India’s oldest and most prestigious law institutions, affiliated to the University of Calcutta and recognized by the Bar Council of India — is delighted to announce the Call for Papers for its peer‑reviewed, refereed, annually published journal: SNLC Law Review (ISSN: 3048‑7838).
The journal seeks to promote original, diverse, and high‑quality legal scholarship in a global context. Contributions may include articles, case comments, and book reviews that significantly advance knowledge in the field of law.
About Surendranath Law College:
- Founded by Rastraguru Surendranath Banerjea in 1884.
- Among the oldest law colleges in India, with a rich legacy of legal education.
- Offers 5‑year B.A. LL.B and 2‑year LL.M programs.

Categories of Submission:
- Articles (4000–6000 words)
- Analytical pieces on contemporary legal topics.
- Must comprehensively cover all aspects of the chosen subject.
- Case Comments (2000–3000 words)
- Critical analysis of recent national or international judgments.
- Should highlight relevance, judicial reasoning, and author’s perspective.
- Book Reviews (1000–2500 words)
- Reviews of books published in 2019 or later.
- Must provide a crisp, insightful account of the book’s contribution.
Note: Word limits exclude footnotes and abstracts.
Submission Guidelines:
- Language: English only.
- Abstract: ≤300 words with 4–6 keywords.
- Formatting:
- Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing (main text).
- Times New Roman, size 10, single spacing (footnotes).
- Text must be justified.
- Citation Style: ILI Footnoting only. No endnotes, bibliography, or references.
- Author Details: Must not appear in manuscript; provided separately in covering letter.
- Co‑authorship: Allowed only for articles (maximum one co‑author). Not permitted for case comments or book reviews.
- File Format: MS Word (.doc/.docx) only. PDF submissions will not be accepted.
- Exclusivity: Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere.
- Plagiarism: Similarity index ≤15%.
- AI Policy: Strictly prohibits AI‑generated substantive content or citations.
- Declaration: Certificate of Originality (Annexure I) must accompany submission.
- Fees: No submission or publication charges.

- Manuscript (without author details).
- Covering letter (with author details: name, affiliation, contact info, postal address, title of paper).

Screening & Review:
- Internal Screening: Checks formatting, citation style, and conceptual fit.
- Plagiarism Test: Similarity index must not exceed 15%.
- Blind Peer Review: Evaluates relevance, originality, comprehensiveness, coherence, and contribution to legal scholarship.
Copyright:
- Accepted contributions become the intellectual property of SNLC Law Review and Surendranath Law College, Kolkata.
- Manuscripts must not be published or under consideration elsewhere.
