Admission Notification: Full-Time Ph.D. in Law

About RPNLU Prayagraj:

Uttar Pradesh National Law University, Prayagraj, established in 2020 by the Uttar Pradesh National Law University Act, 2020 (U.P. Act no 26 of 2020), was renamed Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University in August 2023 (U.P. Act no. 11 of 2023). Programme Overview:

The University invites applications for admission to its Full-Time Ph.D. Programme in Law.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility is in conformity with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for the Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022 and Notification No. F. 4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024 (NET)/140648 dated 28th March 2024.

Applicants must have:

• A Master’s degree in Law or a professional degree equivalent to a Master’s degree in Law, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.
• Equivalent degrees from foreign institutions accredited by recognized agencies are also accepted.

Relaxation: 5% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates of Uttar Pradesh, as per Government of Uttar Pradesh norms.

Admission Process:

• Candidates qualified in NET/JRF or eligible through UGC NET examination may apply.
• Employed candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer, confirming leave for Ph.D. coursework. Applications without valid NOC will be rejected.
• Submission of forged certificates will result in cancellation of admission and penalties.
• The Ph.D. coursework is a full-time programme.

Duration of Programme:

• Minimum: 3 years (including coursework)
• Maximum: 6 years from admission date
• Extension: Up to 2 additional years via re-registration (total not exceeding 8 years).
• Female scholars and Persons with Disabilities (>40% disability): Additional relaxation of 2 years (total not exceeding 10 years).
• Female scholars may avail Maternity/Child Care Leave up to 240 days during the programme.
