About the Chair:

The K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law at National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) is a distinguished academic initiative that promotes advanced teaching, research, and dialogue in the field of criminal justice. Established in 2011 by Justice D.P. Wadhwa (Retd.), Supreme Court of India, the Chair honors the legacy of Shri Kundan Lal Arora, Senior Advocate.

Over the years, the Chair has been led by eminent scholars and practitioners including Prof. B.B. Pande, Prof. K. Chockalingam, Prof. G.S. Bajpai, and Mr. Dayan Krishnan, Senior Advocate. At present, it is headed by Dr. Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, continuing its mission of fostering scholarship and public engagement on pressing issues in criminal law.

Internship Programme:

The Chair invites applications for its Short-Term Internship Programme (December 2025 – January 2026). Interns will work in-person at NLU Delhi, contributing to ongoing research projects and benefiting from a collaborative academic environment.

• Duration: Minimum 1 month, extendable up to 2 months
• Mode: On-campus, in-person internship

Eligibility:

• Students who have completed two years of the five-year LL.B. programme or one year of the three-year LL.B. programme are eligible.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have studied criminal law coursework.
• Applicants should demonstrate:
  • Strong academic performance
  • Research and writing skills
  • Genuine interest in criminal law
• Prior research experience is desirable but not mandatory.
• Students residing in Delhi NCR will be given preference.
