About Organizers:

The ICFAI University, Dehradun, established under the ICFAI University Act, 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 8, 2003, has emerged as a leading institution in Uttarakhand and India. In the India Today Ranking 2025, it secured the 52nd position nationally and 2nd in Uttarakhand among Top General (Private) Universities. The IIRF Ranking 2025 placed it 1st in Uttarakhand, 6th in North India Zone, and 19th in India under the category of The New Age Private University. Additionally, in the Week–Hansa Research Survey 2025, the University was ranked 44th among Private and Deemed Multidisciplinary Universities in India and 28th in the North Zone, reflecting its consistent academic excellence and growing reputation.

Purpose of Event:

The N.J.Y. Memorial International Moot Court Competition is organized to honour the visionary founder Shri N.J. Yasaswy and to provide budding lawyers with a dynamic platform to develop essential skills of legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy. The purpose behind the competition is to engage students in real-time problem-solving, expose them to the complexities of law, and nurture analytical thinking, professionalism, and confidence—thereby aligning with ICFAI University’s vision of combining domain knowledge with practical application to shape future-ready legal professionals.

Eligibility:

Students enrolled in either a 5‑year integrated LL.B. program or a 3‑year LL.B. course at recognized law schools, universities, or institutions in India and abroad are eligible to participate. Each institution may send up to three teams.

Team Composition:

Teams may consist of two or three members. In a two‑member team, both will act as speakers, with one also serving as researcher. In a three‑member team, two will be speakers and one will be the researcher. All members must belong to the same institution or department. Any changes in team composition must be notified to the Organizing Committee (OC) at MOOTCOURT@iudehradun.edu.in.

Registration Process:

  • Teams must complete the official registration form.
  • Registration will be accepted on a first‑come, first‑served basis until the cap is reached.
  • Indian teams must pay a registration fee of INR 3,000/-. International teams are exempt from fees.
  • Accommodation assistance will be provided to national teams. International teams will compete online, while national teams will participate on campus.
  • After submitting the form, teams will receive a confirmation email with payment details. If not received, they should contact the OC via email.
  • Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
  • Each team must nominate one member as the primary contact person, responsible for all communication with the OC and for updating teammates.
  • No refunds will be issued in case of withdrawal.

Important Dates:

  • 19 Nov 2025: Registration opens & moot problem released
  • 15 Jan 2026: Deadline for seeking clarifications
  • 02 Feb 2026: Last date for soft copy submission of memorials
  • 07 Feb 2026: Inaugural ceremony, hard copy submission, preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, researcher’s test, social event
  • 08 Feb 2026: Semifinals, finals, and valedictory ceremony

  • Winning Team: INR 18,000 + Merit Certificate + Trophy
  • Runner‑Up Team: INR 11,000 + Merit Certificate + Trophy
  • Best Speaker: INR 5,000 + Merit Certificate + Trophy
  • Best Researcher: INR 5,000 + Merit Certificate + Trophy
  • Best Memorial: INR 5,000 + Merit Certificate + Trophy
  • Best International Team: INR 18,000 + Merit Certificate
  • All Participants: Certificate of Participation
