ABOUT THE COMPETITION:
The 1st SLCU Essay Writing Competition 2025 is a national-level initiative aimed at critical thought and academic engagement on recent and encouraging emerging developments in corporate law. This event seeks to provide a platform for law students, researchers, and practitioners to express their perspectives through scholarly writing and interactive discussion.
ELIGIBILITY:
All students pursuing bachelor’s degree in law i.e. three year LL.B./five year LL.B. or a post graduate course from any law school /university /college recognised by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the Competition.
THEME:
“Transforming Corporate Jurisprudence: Emerging Issues and Future Pathways”
SUB-THEMES:
- Impact of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Norms and Corporate Social Responsibility on Corporate Strategy.
- Legal Framework for Startups and MSMEs: Fostering Innovation While Ensuring Regulatory Accountability.
- Cross-Border Mergers and Takeovers: Navigating Regulatory Complexities and Investor Protection.
- Insider Trading and Market Abuse: Contemporary Legal Framework and Enforcement.
- Participants will also be free to write on any topic related to main theme.
REGISTRATION FEE:
- Single Author: Rs. 300
- Two Authors: Rs. 500
- The following are the steps to be followed for payment of the aforesaid registration fee:
AWARDS:
- Winner: ₹ 7,000 + Certificate of Merit + Internship
- 1st Runner-Up: ₹ 5,000 + Certificate of Merit + Internship
- 2nd Runner-Up: ₹ 3,000 + Certificate of Merit + Internship
- Top 10 Entries: Certificate of Merit
- Certificate of Participation will be awarded participants.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Submission shall be made only in MS Word format (.doc/.docx). PDF form shall not be accepted.
- Formatting Guidelines:
- Font and Size of Main Text and Footnote: Times New Roman, 12 Point for main text, and Times New Roman, 10 Point for footnotes.
- Size and Alignment: A4 Size with 1 Inch Margin; all text except headings should be justified.
- Footnoting: The participant has to adopt a uniform style of citation throughout the document.
- Spacing: Submission should be 1.5 spaced (except footnotes, which should be single-spaced).
- Word Limit: The Word limit of the submission is 2500 – 3500 words (excluding footnotes).
- Plagiarism: Any submission that is found to be plagiarized beyond 10% shall be disqualified from the competition.
- Anonymity: Participant shall not include his/her name in the submission’s text in any form.
- Co-Authorship: Co-authorship, up to two authors, is allowed.
- The use of AI is strictly prohibited, if found, the submission will be disqualified.
