University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, UP invites application for PhD admissions in law with 35 seats in total for the session of 2025-26.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR Ph.D. ADMISSION-2025:

LL.M. (Post Graduation Degree) with 55% marks for General Category or 50% marks for EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwD Categories in Law.

Duration of the Programme:

Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work, and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.

Final merit shall be prepared on the basis of:

In accordance with the UGC Regulation 2022 and Ph.D. Ordinance of the University of Allahabad (vide letter no. 05/R/539/2019 dated 20th June 2019), 70% of weightage will be given to the examination conducted by NTA and 30% to the Test, (which shall entail an interview and may include Presentations/Group Discussions/Written or other modes of appraisal). The shortlisting criteria for the admission shall be, Marks Obtained by the applicant in the examination conducted by NTA only. When the CSIR/UGC publish normalised score for any subject then for shortlisting of these applicants normalised score obtained by them shall be considered.

Selection Process:

The applicants shall be classified into the following three Groups:

Group-A Qualified for JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor.
Group-B-I. Qualified for appointment as Assistant Professor (NET).
II. Qualified for admission to Ph.D. only.
Group-C Exempted Applicants.

For applicants in Group B, the validity of UGC/CSIR NET scores will be valid for one year. Therefore, “Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET in June 2024, December 2024 and June 2025 ” will be eligible for consideration in PhD admissions in the academic session 2025-26. “

1. Group-A: All the applicants
2. Group-B: 2 times of seats advertised (as per the reservation policy of Government of India)
3. Group-C: All the applicants

Exemptions from UGC/CSIR NET Examinations:

• Permanent teachers of the University of Allahabad and its constituent colleges.
• Officers of the Armed Forces (with requisite service conditions as per PhD admission brochure) are eligible for Ph.D. admission only in Department of Defence and Strategic Studies
• International candidates (The Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme should contact the International Candidate Advisor of the University)
• Part-Time PhD Option: Available for candidates with minimum 5 years’ professional experience in recognized organizations as per PhD admission brochure.
