Contemporary Challenges in International Commercial Arbitration in India
This competition provides a platform for law students to critically analyze pressing issues in international commercial arbitration and propose innovative solutions. It encourages academic engagement with global developments while focusing on India’s evolving position in arbitration law.
About the Organizers:
- University of Delhi: Established in 1922, DU is one of India’s premier central universities, known for fostering critical thinking, academic rigor, and nation-building through quality education.
- Campus Law Centre (CLC): Founded in 1924, CLC is the flagship institution of the Faculty of Law, DU. It has shaped generations of legal professionals and continues to be a beacon of legal scholarship and constitutional governance.
- ADR Society, CLC: A student-led body promoting arbitration, mediation, and ADR mechanisms as effective alternatives to litigation. It organizes workshops, simulations, and lectures to equip students with practical ADR skills.
- Corporate Legal Partners: A full-service law firm led by Mr. Vikas Kumar, FCIArb, Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India. The firm specializes in international commercial arbitration, cross-border enforcement, and complex litigation.
Topics for Research Papers:
Participants may choose one of the following:
- Arbitrability of Commercial Disputes in India: Uncertainty and Its Impact
- Judicial Intervention in International Commercial Arbitration: Rhetoric vs Reality
- Technology Driven Arbitration in India: Prospects and Problems
- Emergency Arbitration in India: Recognition and Enforcement Challenges
- Taxation Claims in Commercial Arbitration: Pleadings, Proof, and Practice
- Ancillary and Consequential Damages: Scope, Limits, and Drafting Pitfalls
- Damages, Expert Evidence, and Valuation Methodologies in Arbitration
Participation Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Open to all bona fide LL.B students (3-year/5-year) from recognized law institutions in India.
- Team Composition: Maximum of two authors from the same institution.
- Submission Deadline: April 15, 2026.
- Format:
- Language: English
- Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, Line Spacing 1.5
- Footnotes: Times New Roman, Size 10, Line Spacing 1
- Citation: Harvard Bluebook (21st Edition)
- Word Limit: 6000 words (including abstract of max 300 words, excluding footnotes)
- Plagiarism Policy: Similarity index above 10% will lead to disqualification.
- AI Tools: Use of AI tools in writing is strictly prohibited.
- Submission Mode: Email to adrresearchpaperclc@gmail.com with registration form, declaration, and ID card.
- Fee: No registration fee.
Evaluation Criteria:
Papers will be judged on:
- Content, originality, and lucidity
- Quality of analysis and research
- Rationality, structure, and innovative application
The jury will consist of eminent academicians, jurists, and practitioners. Decisions will be final and binding.
Prizes:
- First Prize: INR 10,000 + Certificate of Merit
- Second Prize: INR 7,000 + Certificate of Merit
- Third Prize: INR 5,000 + Certificate of Merit
- Consolation Prizes (03): INR 2,000 each + Certificate of Merit
- Winning entries may be considered for publication in an edited book.
- All participants will receive E-certificates.
