The Allahabad High Court has opened applications for Research Associates (2026) with a fixed honorarium of ₹40,000 per month. Applications are accepted online from 6 June to 20 June 2026, followed by screening and interviews scheduled for 8 August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Law graduates from 3-year or 5-year LL.B. courses in academic sessions 2024, 2025, or 2026.
  • Candidates awaiting final year LL.B. results (2026) may also apply.
  • Minimum marks: 55% in LL.B.
  • Age limit: 21–26 years as of 1 July 2026.
  • Computer proficiency in data entry, word processing, etc.

Selection Process:

  • Application Fee: ₹500 (online payment only).
  • Three-stage evaluation (100 marks):
    • Language, Academics & Co-curricular: 20 marks
    • Screening Test: 60 marks (1-hour descriptive paper)
    • Interview: 20 marks (assessed on suitability, merit, and performance)
  • Weightage marks awarded for:
    • Hindi & English language scores (Class 10/12).
    • LL.B. academic performance.
    • Moot court participation or legal research publications.
  • Final merit list based on aggregate marks from all stages.

Nature of Work:

  • Research Associates will be attached to Hon’ble Judges at Allahabad or Lucknow Bench.
  • Duties include:
    • Legal research, drafting, note preparation.
    • Attending court hearings and maintaining case files.
    • Assisting in preparation of academic/legal papers.
  • Restrictions:
    • Cannot practice before the Judge they assisted for two years post-engagement.
    • No academic/professional pursuits during tenure without prior permission.
    • Engagement is contractual for one year, extendable up to three years.

Important Amendment (Notice dated 5 June 2026):

  • Mandatory uploads: All year-wise LL.B. marksheets and certificates, plus co-curricular activity proofs.
  • Weightage marks:
    • For current students: average of marks (3-year: 1st & 2nd year; 5-year: 1st–4th year).
    • For graduates: overall percentage.
  • CGPA candidates: Must provide official conversion formula and percentage proof.
