Ph.D. Notification:
Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, invites online applications for admission to its Ph.D. programs (Regular and Part‑time) for the academic session 2026. The notification covers multiple disciplines, including Law, under the Faculty of Legal Studies.
Applications are open from 23 May 2026 to 10 June 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Master’s Degree Pathway:
- Completed a 1‑year/2‑semester Master’s program after a 4‑year Bachelor’s degree, or a 2‑year Master’s program after a 3‑year Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/OBC (non‑creamy layer), PwD, and EWS candidates.
- M.Phil Pathway:
- Completed M.Phil with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Same relaxation of 5% marks for reserved categories.
- International Students:
- Admission procedure will follow HPU’s norms in line with statutory/regulatory guidelines.

Admission Procedure:
- Regular Mode:
- Admission based on NET/JRF/GATE scores (70% weightage) and Interview (30% weightage).
- Interview evaluation includes:
- NET/JRF fellowship (10 marks)
- PG marks (5 marks)
- Research proposal (5 marks)
- Presentation (5 marks)
- Defence of proposal (5 marks)
- Part‑time Mode:
- Marks awarded for teaching/research experience, NET/JRF/M.Phil qualifications, and proposal presentation/defence.

- Interview & Selection: As per departmental schedule.
- Counselling: Candidates must produce degree completion certificates at the time of counselling/interview.
