Legal Internship Scheme – Ministry of Power:
The Ministry of Power has announced its Legal Internship Scheme, offering law students and recent graduates exposure to public policy, regulatory frameworks, and legal functions in the power sector. Interns will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month and a Certificate of Completion upon successful tenure.
About the Scheme:
The Legal Internship Scheme by the Ministry of Power aims to engage law students, postgraduate researchers, and recent graduates as Legal Interns. The program provides hands‑on exposure to drafting rules, notifications, guidelines, and handling court cases, while enriching academic experience with practical insights into government functioning.
Objectives:
- Provide exposure to public policy, regulatory, and legal functions in the power sector.
- Enable interns to support the Ministry in legal‑analytical work such as drafting briefs, analyzing frameworks, and reforms.
- Bring fresh perspectives to the Ministry’s ongoing work.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Enrolled in or recently graduated (within 6 months) from a recognized law program (LLB, LLM, PhD).
- LLB students: Must have completed/appeared in 2nd year exams.
- LLM/PhD candidates: Must have completed/appeared in the first year/2nd semester.
- Academic performance:
- LLB: Minimum 80% in Class 12 and good standing in law program.
- Postgraduate/Research: Minimum 70% in preceding degree.
- Strong command of English and ability to draft legal documents.
Duration:
- Minimum: 6 weeks
- Maximum: 6 months
- Certificate of Completion awarded upon fulfilling duration, attendance, and deliverables.
Mode & Location:
- On‑site internship at the Ministry of Power, Shram Shakti Bhavan, New Delhi.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze legal/regulatory issues in the power sector.
- Draft legal briefs, notes, and summaries.
- Assist in documentation and review under officer guidance.
- Support committee work, policy initiatives, and stakeholder consultations.
- Submit a final report/presentation at the end of internship.
Stipend:
- ₹5,000 per month.
- Interns bear travel, accommodation, and equipment costs unless otherwise stated.
Application Window & Process:
- Applications accepted in cycles (1st–10th of each month).
- Apply two months in advance of preferred start date.
- Maximum 6 interns engaged at a time.

- Required documents: Resume, Bonafide certificate, transcripts, SOP (up to 500 words), valid ID, photo, signature, and NOC (if applicable).
- Selection based on academic performance, SOP, and relevance of legal background.
