NCB Public Prosecutor Vacancy 2025 out! Deadline: Sept 30, 2025
Narcotics Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs has opened various legal vacancies for the posts of Senior Public Prosecutor and Public Prosecutor on deputation basis, including short-term contract (STC). Interested and eligible candidates may apply before the last date through routed proper channel for application prescribed in the official gazette.
Post: Senior Public Prosecutors:
- No. of Posts: 15
- Mode of Recruitment: 100% by deputation, including short-term contract
- Pay Scale: PB-3 (Rs. 15,600-39,100) + Grade Pay of Rs. 6,600 (pre-revised) (Level-11 (₹67,700–₹2,08,700/-) as per 7th CPC Pay matrix)
- Eligibility Criteria
- Service Requirements:
- Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
- with 5yrs regular service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the posts in level-10 of the pay matrix or equivalent in the parent cadre or department;
- with 7yrs service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the posts in level-9 of the pay matrix or equivalent in the parent cadre or department;
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university
- with 04 years of practice as an advocate in conducting criminal case.
- Age limit:
- Maximum Age: 56 years as on closing date of receipt of application
- Standard Note:
- Period of deputation (including short term contract) in another ex- cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/ department of the Central Government shall not exceed 04 years.
- Application Requirements:
- Supporting certificate/documents in respect of claimed educational qualification, including the essential qualification of Bachelor’s Degree in Law (duly attested).
- Photocopies of APARs for the last five years duly attested (with stamp) on each page by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India or equivalent, including GAP Sheet/NIC/NRC. In case, NRC is not issued, an undertaking may be provided by the Employer’s/Cadre Controlling Authority with the valid reasons.
- Integrity Certificate
- Vigilance Clearance certificate as per proforma
- Major/minor penalty statement for the last 10 years and
- Cadre clearance incorporating that in the event of his/her selection, he/she will be relieved to join the post of Senior Public Prosecutor (SPP) in NCB on deputation (including short-term contract).
- It may be noted that in the event of their selection, the candidates will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature. In case an officer fails to join the post after the selection, he/she will be debarred from future deputation in NCB.
- Submission Deadline: The last date of receiving applications through proper channel would be 30th September, 2025. In case, the vacancy is not filled, the vacancy shall remain open and all applications received in subsequent month i.e. October, 2025 would be taken up for consideration in the next month. This process would continue till a suitable candidate for the post is selected.

- Eligibility Criteria

- Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
- with 2yrs regular service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the posts in level-9 of the pay matrix or equivalent in the parent cadre or department;
- with 4yrs service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the posts in level-8 of the pay matrix or equivalent in the parent cadre or department;
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university
- with 07 years of practice as an advocate in conducting criminal case.
- Desirable: with 03 years’ experience as Advocate in conducting NDPS cases.
- Age limit:
- Maximum Age: 56 years as on closing date of receipt of application
