About RGNUL & CADR

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, established in 2006, is a premier institution of legal education. With a strong emphasis on research, practical skills, and academic excellence, RGNUL has consistently nurtured future leaders in law.

The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR), founded in 2018, is dedicated to advancing ADR methods in India. Through competitions, workshops, and research initiatives, CADR fosters negotiation and mediation skills among law students, promoting ADR as a tool for socioeconomic and political justice.

About Dr. P.C. Markanda Chair on ADR

Late Advocate Dr. P.C. Markanda, widely regarded as the Father of Indian Arbitration, contributed immensely to arbitration jurisprudence in India. To honour his legacy, RGNUL established the Chair on ADR, which aims to make RGNUL a hub for arbitration training, research, and consultancy, while promoting new academic programmes in ADR.

Format of the Competition

The 6th RGNUL National Negotiation Competition will be conducted in hybrid mode:

  • Preliminary Rounds (Online): 25th October 2026
  • Advanced Rounds (Offline): 21st–22nd November 2026

Each team will consist of two members – one Client and one Counsel – who must interchange roles during preliminary rounds.

  • Eligibility: Students enrolled in UG or PG law programmes in universities recognised by the Bar Council of India as on 1st September 2026.
  • Registration Fee: ₹8,000 per team (exclusive of GST).
  • Advanced Rounds Fee: ₹4,000 per team (exclusive of GST, includes accommodation).
  • Provisional Registration: Opens 3rd October 2026; Deadline 8th October 2026.
  • Final Registration Deadline: 20th October 2026.
  • Clarifications Deadline: 17th October 2026.
  • Negotiation Plan Submission: 22nd October 2026.

Awards & Recognition

  • Winners: Trophy, cash prize, internships.
  • Runners‑Up: Trophy, cash prize, internships.
  • Best Negotiator: Highest individual score in prelims.
  • Best Negotiating Plan: Highest average score of negotiation plans.
  • Certificates: All participants will receive certificates of participation. (Cash prizes and internship details to be announced shortly.)
