About the Organiser

The competition is hosted by Nutan Maharashtra Vidya Prasarak Mandal (NMVPM) Trust through Late Adv. Ku. Shalaka Santosh Khandge Law College, Talegaon Dabhade, Pune. Established in 2025, the College is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, recognised by the Government of Maharashtra and approved by the Bar Council of India. The institution is dedicated to quality legal education, academic excellence, professional competence, and ethical values.

About the Competition

The National Online Legal Notice Drafting Competition 2026 is a simulated legal drafting exercise designed for undergraduate law students across India. Participants will prepare:

  • A Legal Notice
  • A Reply to the Legal Notice
  • An Online Interview/Viva Voce

This competition aims to replicate real-world pre-litigation practice, where grievances are formally communicated, demands are structured, and opportunities for resolution are explored before litigation.

Objective of the Competition

The initiative seeks to:

  • Bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical legal practice.
  • Strengthen drafting, analytical reasoning, and advocacy skills.
  • Enhance professional communication through structured legal documents.
  • Provide exposure to simulated disputes and legal reasoning.

Competition Structure

Participants may choose one of the following problem statements:

  1. Recovery of Unpaid Wages – Ms. Riya Sharma v. Zenith Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
  2. Recovery of Contractual Dues – M/s Aarav Infrastructure v. State of Maharashtra & Ors.

Each team must prepare both a Legal Notice and a Reply. Evaluation will be based on:

  • Legal Notice: 40 marks
  • Reply: 40 marks
  • Interview/Viva Voce: 20 marks Total: 100 marks

Eligibility

  • Open to undergraduate law students (LL.B., B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., B.L.S. LL.B., etc.).
  • Participation strictly in pairs of two.
  • Both participants must be bona fide students of a recognised law institution.
  • Competition mode: Online.
  • Official communication and submissions: English.

Submission Guidelines

  • Legal Notice and Reply must be submitted as two separate PDF files (4–6 pages each).
  • Team Code (provided post-registration) must appear only in the header.
  • No identifying details (names, college, logos) in submissions.
  • AI-assisted content and textual similarity limited to 10%.
  • Plagiarism, fabrication, impersonation, or malpractice may lead to disqualification.

  • Page size: A4
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Main text: 12 pt | Headings: 14 pt bold
  • Line spacing: 1.5 | Alignment: Justified
  • Citations: Bluebook, 21st Edition
