About Organizers:

St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK), established in 2017 in New Town, is a Jesuit-run private university that carries forward the rich legacy of St. Xavier’s institutions in India. Rooted in its motto Nihil Ultra (“Nothing Beyond”), the university offers diverse undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across arts, commerce, science, management, and social work, with a strong emphasis on research, ethics, and social responsibility. About the Conference:

Despite efforts by governments, democratic institutions, and civil society, structural impediments to gender equality and gender-based discrimination persist. This one-day national conference provides a platform for academicians, social thinkers, research scholars, students, and the legal fraternity to deliberate on feminist jurisprudence, gender justice, and women’s empowerment in the context of sustainable development.

The conference aims to:

Provide knowledge, tools, and techniques to foster attitudinal change.
Raise awareness of gender equality concerns through evidence-based discussions.
