About the Opportunity:
The Appellate Tribunal (SAFEMA), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, invites applications from eligible Indian Nationals for engagement as Legal Research Associates (LRAs) on a contractual basis at its headquarters in New Delhi.
Position Details:
- Name of Position: Legal Research Associate (LRA)
- Location: Appellate Tribunal (SAFEMA), Lok Nayak Bhawan, Khan Market, New Delhi
- Remuneration: ₹50,000 per month (consolidated, no DA/HRA/allowances)
- Tenure: Initially for 1 year, extendable based on performance and requirement
Essential Qualifications:
- Law Graduate (LL.B. – 3 or 5 years) with minimum 50% aggregate marks
- Must be enrolled with a Bar Council in India
- Age not above 30 years as on 24 June 2026
- Proficiency in computer operations and legal databases (e.g., Manupatra, SCC Online)
- Certificate of integrity and good moral character from two responsible persons/gazetted officers
- No involvement in criminal cases
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research, organize case laws, citations, and judicial pronouncements
- Attend court hearings, note arguments, prepare factual/legal synopses
- Assist Chairman/Member in case briefings and draft judgments
- Support litigation management, record‑keeping, and retrieval of legal materials
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professional decorum
Conduct & Restrictions:
- Maintain secrecy of tribunal matters during and after engagement
- Not permitted to practice as an Advocate during contract period
- Must remain stationed at New Delhi unless permitted otherwise
- Required to bring own laptop; tribunal provides internet and infrastructure support
Selection Process:
- Shortlisting based on eligibility and merit
- Final selection through interview/personal interaction (including questions on PMLA, PBPT Act, FEMA, SAFEMA, NDPS Act, CPC, BNSS, BSA, etc.)
- Candidates may be tested on research skills and IT proficiency
- No TA/DA admissible
