The Department of Legal Affairs (DLA) invites applications for its structured LLB Internship Programme, designed to provide law students and graduates with practical exposure to the functioning of the Ministry of Law & Justice.
Purpose:
The programme aims to acquaint young law students and graduates with:
- Research and referencing work
- Court functioning
- Drafting and tendering legal advice in specialized fields such as:
- Constitutional & Administrative Law
- Finance & Infrastructure Law
- Economic & Labour Law
- Conveyancing, Arbitration & Contract Law
Eligibility:
- Indian students who have:
- Completed 2nd year of a 3‑year LL.B. course, OR
- Completed 3rd year of a 5‑year LL.B. course, OR
- Graduated in law from a recognized institution.
- Preference for candidates with advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.).
Duration:
- Internship ordinarily lasts one month.
- Commences from the first working day of every month.
Application Procedure:
- Apply online via the official portal: Department of Legal Affairs Internship Page.
- Upload required documents:
- Application form
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from college/university (not required for graduates; they must upload final year certificate).
- Submit by 13th February 2026.
Selection:
- Maximum 50 interns per month.
- Selection on a first‑come, first‑serve basis and as per guidelines.
- Shortlisting details communicated via Internship Portal/email.
Deployment:
Interns may be posted at:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section, Supreme Court of India
- Litigation HC Section, Delhi
- Branch Secretariats at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Reporting & Certification:
- Interns must submit a monthly report and assigned research work to Admin‑I (LA).
- Certificate issued upon satisfactory completion with:
- 90% attendance
- Positive remarks from supervising authority
- Internship is full‑time and physical; interns cannot pursue other courses/work during tenure.
Termination:
- The Department reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time without assigning reasons.
Honorarium:
- Interns receive an honorarium of ₹5000 upon successful completion.
