About Lokpal of India:

The Lokpal of India was established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 with the objective of combating corruption in public administration. India’s ratification of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (2011) further reinforced the need for effective mechanisms to criminalize bribery and strengthen enforcement.

The Lokpal serves as a premier anti‑corruption institution, working alongside bodies such as the Central Vigilance Commission and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to uphold integrity in governance.

Objectives of the Internship Scheme:

The internship programme is designed to:

  • Expose students to the dimensions of corruption and its impact on society.
  • Provide knowledge about the institutional and legal structures that deal with corruption.
  • Offer practical insights into the functioning of the Lokpal and related institutions.
  • Encourage students to contribute fresh ideas and technological perspectives to strengthen anti‑corruption efforts.

Interns will gain exposure to the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Central Vigilance Commission Act, the Delhi Police Establishment Act, and other related laws and procedures.

Duration and Vacancies:

  • Internship period: Up to 3 months.
  • Applications will be considered subject to availability of vacancies.
  • Total number of interns will be decided based on administrative requirements.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students of institutions affiliated with recognized universities in India are eligible, subject to the following conditions:

  • Must be pursuing a regular undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Management, Economics, or Human Rights.
  • Minimum 75% marks in Class 12 or equivalent.
  • Undergraduate students: Completed at least two years of study with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
  • Postgraduate students: Minimum aggregate of 55% marks in graduation.

Selection Process:

  • Selection will be made by a committee appointed by the Hon’ble Chairperson.
  • Criteria: Course pursued and academic performance.

Internship Conditions:

  • Interns must attend office on all working days.
  • Interns must bring their own laptops.
  • Lokpal of India will provide workspace, internet, and other facilities.
  • A certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
  • Stipend: ₹10,000 per month (payable only on completion of each full month).

Application Process:

Interested candidates must submit:

  • Prescribed application format (Annexure‑I).
  • Self‑attested copies of:
    • Aadhaar Card
    • Recommendation letter from College/University
    • Marksheet of Class 12 and above
  • Originals must be produced for verification.
