About the Department:

The Department of Forests and Wildlife, Delhi oversees the protection and management of forests, ridge areas, biodiversity, and wildlife sanctuaries in the capital. It enforces environmental and wildlife laws, handles compliance matters, and supports ecological conservation initiatives.

Internship Highlights:

  • Practical Exposure: Interns gain insight into the functioning of various divisions of the department.
  • Legal Work:
    • Research on environmental and forest laws
    • Drafting legal documents, affidavits, and status reports
    • Monitoring ongoing environmental and forest-related litigation
    • Policy and compliance analysis
  • Administrative Experience: Interns also observe field-level implementation and government processes.

Eligibility:

  • Open to LL.B. and LL.M. students from recognized universities/institutions.
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • Preference for candidates with a strong Statement of Purpose (SoP) demonstrating interest in environmental law and policy.

Duration & Mode:

  • 1–3 months (extendable by one month in exceptional cases).
  • On-site internship at Delhi Forest Division Offices.

Stipend & Certificate:

  • No stipend is provided.
  • Successful interns receive a Certificate of Completion with performance grading.

Application Process:

  • Apply online only via the official portal:
  • Submit:
    • Statement of Purpose (max 1000 words)
    • Academic documents and proof of enrolment
    • No Objection Certificate (if required by institution)
  • Applications must be submitted at least 3 months in advance of the desired internship period.
  • Incomplete applications or repeat applicants will not be considered.

Selection & Supervision:

  • Scrutiny by the Research Advisory Committee on merit basis.
  • Each intern is assigned a Guide (ACF rank or above).
  • Interns must prepare a report/paper and may present findings to the department.
  • Final work remains the intellectual property of the Department.
