The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), established in 2016 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, invites applications for its prestigious Internship Programme 2026.

About CTIL:

CTIL is India’s leading platform for research and policy engagement in international trade and investment law. It provides rigorous legal and policy analysis to the Department of Commerce and other government bodies, assisting in trade negotiations, dispute settlement, taxation, and development of domestic laws impacting India’s trade commitments.

The Centre has established itself as a thought leader in WTO law, international investment law, and economic integration, publishing books, articles, and papers, while organizing conferences, consultations, and training programmes.

Internship Programme:

CTIL’s internship programme offers experiential learning for undergraduate and postgraduate law students. Interns gain exposure to:

  • WTO agreements and free trade agreements (FTAs)
  • International trade regulations and disputes
  • International investment law and policy research
  • Capacity‑building programmes and workshops with experts from academia, policy, and industry

Interns also participate in monthly group presentations, refining their research, analytical, and soft skills such as teamwork, time management, and effective communication.

PMI–CTEI–CTIL Internship Programme:

CTIL collaborates with the Permanent Mission of India to the WTO (Geneva) and the Centre for Trade and Economic Integration (CTEI), Graduate Institute Geneva. This flagship programme allows selected students to work on research assignments at CTIL and interact with officials at PMI Geneva, offering unparalleled international exposure.

Collaborations & Academic Partnerships:

CTIL partners with leading law schools in India and abroad, co‑organizing conferences, panel discussions, certificate courses, and moot courts. Recent collaborations include:

  • GNLU International Conference on Law & Economics (2025)
  • CTIL–Bennett International Moot Court Competition (2026)
  • International Conference on Gender Dimensions of International Trade (2024)
  • Interdisciplinary Conference on Law, Economics & Artificial Intelligence

These initiatives strengthen CTIL’s role in shaping global trade law discourse.

Internship Requirements & Guidelines:

  • Open to law students with interest in international economic law.
  • Applications must be submitted via the Google Form.
