Internship Opportunity: Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court of India:
The Centre for Research and Planning (CRP) at the Supreme Court of India invites applications for its prestigious internship programme. This scheme provides law students with an opportunity to contribute to the Court’s research and policy initiatives while gaining valuable exposure to the functioning of the judiciary.
Application Timeline:
- Applications must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the intended internship month.
- If no intimation is received within three weeks of the intended start date, applicants should presume their application has not been successful.
Selection Criteria:
The CRP follows a comprehensive evaluation process to identify candidates who align with its research goals. Selection is based on:
- Motivation and intent expressed in the application.
- Demonstrated expertise through prior internship experience in litigation and policy frameworks.
- Intellectual caliber assessed through the quality of writing samples.
- Commitment to excellence and diversity of perspectives, reflecting the Supreme Court’s ethos.
Internship Scheme (Revised 6 August 2021):
The CRP may engage up to 10 interns on a rolling basis throughout the year.
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be enrolled in a law degree programme recognised by the Bar Council of India.
- Applicants must be in the 4th or 5th year of a five‑year programme or the 3rd year of a three‑year programme at the time of internship.
- Candidates must be below the age of 28.
2. Application Process
- Applications must be submitted via the official online form:
- Required documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
- Statement of Purpose (350–500 words) explaining motivation and career goals.
- Writing sample (1,500–3,000 words), which may be an extract of a longer piece.
- The CRP may conduct a telephonic interview if deemed necessary.
3. Conditions of Engagement
- Minimum internship duration: 4 weeks.
- Interns must be physically present at the CRP offices, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.
- Office hours: 10:00 am – 5:30 pm (Mon–Fri) and 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Sat).
- Interns must uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Interns cannot accept or participate in any other assignment during the internship.
- Disclosure or publication of information obtained during the internship is strictly prohibited unless required by law.
- The internship is unpaid.
- Interns will work under the supervision of the Director, CRP, Supreme Court of India.
