Announces 5th CNLU International Mediation Competition, 2027

Organised by CCADR | January–February 2027

The Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR) at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna proudly unveils the 5th CNLU International Mediation Competition (IMC), 2027. This edition marks a historic milestone as the competition transitions from a national to an international platform, inviting participation from institutions, peers, and practitioners across India and abroad.

About CNLU

Established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006), CNLU is recognised under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. Since its inception on 15 July 2006, the University has been committed to:

• Delivering quality legal education of the highest standard.
• Raising national legal standards to a competitive international level.
• Promoting legal awareness in furtherance of constitutional goals of justice, equality, and the rule of law.

CNLU boasts state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure and draws upon the expertise of retired Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, Senior Advocates, and eminent academicians. Mooting, debating, ADR competitions, and co‑curricular activities form an integral part of the student experience, ensuring holistic professional development.

About CCADR

Founded in 2021, CCADR serves as a hub for:

• Academic research in dispute resolution.
• Skill‑building and training in ADR practices.
• Professional engagement with practitioners and institutions.

Its initiatives include:

• National Mediation Competition (NMC)
• National Client Counselling Competition (NCC)
• Arbitral Award Writing & Presentation Competition (2026–27)
• Publications: Samvaad (newsletter), Untangled (ADR blog), ADR Radio, ADR’o Clock.

CCADR collaborates with leading law firms, ADR institutions, and organisations such as Kochhar & Co., Singhania & Partners, TT&A, HSA Advocates, PSL Advocates & Solicitors, King Stubb & Kasiva, Poovayya & Co., Dentons Link Legal, JSA Advocates & Solicitors, MCIA, IAMC Hyderabad, Manupatra, SCC Online, LiveLaw, Bihar Tourism, and international ADR organisations including TiradoADR and McPhilamy ADR.

Journey So Far

• 1st Edition (2023): Inaugurated virtually; final rounds judged by eminent jurists including Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh.
• 2nd Edition (2024): Featured global ADR experts such as Ms. Alix Povey (Mediation Chambers) and Mr. Param Bhamra (Mediate Guru).
• 3rd Edition (2025): Keynote by Dr. Rajesh Sharma; adjudicated by leading ADR practitioners including Mr. Mayank Mishra and Mr. Vikash Kumar Jha.
• 4th Edition (2026): Conducted in hybrid format; dignitaries included Dr. Sukhsimranjit Singh (JAMS) and Mr. Siddharth Jha (SIMC).

5th Edition – International Mediation Competition, 2027

For the first time, CCADR is hosting the competition on a global scale.

• Online Rounds: 16–17 January 2027
• Results (Top 8 Teams): 17–18 January 2027
• Offline Rounds (CNLU Campus, Patna): 13–14 February 2027

This edition aims to:

• Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of mediation.
• Facilitate engagement with experienced practitioners, distinguished experts, and academicians.
• Establish the competition as a premier ADR event of international standing.
