About the University:

Founded under the Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust in 1985, the institution began with Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College, later expanding to Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College (1988) and Thai Moogambigai Dental College (1991). In 2003, both colleges attained Deemed University status as Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, recognized by the UGC and MHRD, Government of India. The University is accredited with NAAC A+ Grade, reflecting its commitment to excellence in education and research.


About the Faculty of Law:

The Faculty of Law offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes in line with the Bar Council of India and UGC guidelines. About the Programme:

The International Faculty Development Programme (IFDP) is designed to prepare faculty for the AI‑augmented era of legal education. It equips participants to reimagine legal research, drafting, and pedagogy through hands‑on exposure to cutting‑edge tools and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Programme Highlights:

  • Hands‑on AI Application: Training with OpenAI, LexisNexis, and Westlaw for research and drafting.
  • Pedagogical Integration: Frameworks for AI‑based assignments and curriculum design.
  • Ethics & Academic Integrity: Critical evaluation of AI outputs with ethical safeguards.
  • Interdisciplinary Innovation: Dialogue between law and technology for future‑ready scholarship.

Objectives:

  1. Introduce fundamentals of AI in legal research and drafting.
  2. Develop practical skills using AI‑powered platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  3. Provide exposure to generative AI tools for structured documentation.
  4. Enhance critical evaluation skills for accuracy, ethics, and compliance.
  5. Encourage responsible integration of AI into legal education and practice.

  • Day 3 (13 May 2026): Intelligent Legal Drafting: Contracts, Pleadings, and Opinions – Dr. M.A. Saleem Ahamed, Crescent School of Law, Chennai
  • Day 4 (14 May 2026): Ethics, Compliance, and Responsible AI in Law – Dr. Dhanya S., GNLU Gandhinagar
  • Day 5 (15 May 2026): AI in Legal Academia: A Constitutional Perspective – Dr. V. Prabha, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Centre of Legal Education, Puducherry
