About the Conference:

The Centre for Labour Studies (CLS), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, in collaboration with the Internship and Placement Cell (IPC), is pleased to announce an international academic conference on “From Adjudication to Amicable Resolution: ADR’s Evolution in Labour Justice.”

Traditional labour adjudication continues to face several challenges, including procedural complexities, institutional constraints, delays in dispute resolution, and difficulties in ensuring timely access to justice. Against this backdrop, there has been a growing global emphasis on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, particularly conciliation, mediation, and arbitration, as effective means of resolving labour and employment disputes.

ADR mechanisms have the potential to promote speedier resolution, accessibility, flexibility, confidentiality, reduced litigation costs, and collaborative outcomes. They also provide an opportunity to move beyond purely adversarial adjudication towards more participatory and amicable approaches to labour justice.

The conference seeks to provide a platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, industry professionals, students, and civil society representatives to critically examine the evolving relationship between labour adjudication and ADR. It will explore contemporary challenges in labour and employment dispute resolution, including the impact of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, platform work, cross-border employment, workplace conflicts, vulnerable workers, and changing industrial relations.
