Dr. Usha Ramanathan is a well-known Indian scholar on poverty and law. She is a regular adviser to non-governmental and international groups, as well as a member of Amnesty International’s Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Advisory Panel.

Human rights, displacement, torts, and the environment are among her research interests. She has also had a number of publications both in India and overseas. She has focused her efforts on a number of specific causes, including the Bhopal gas disaster, the Narmada valley dams, and Delhi slum evictions.
