About ICFAI Conference of Nations 2017

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 Member States. The mission and work of the United Nations are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. The main organs of the UN are the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice, and the UN Secretariat. All were established in 1945 when the UN was founded.

Model United Nations; also known as model un/mock UN or MUN is an educational stimulation and an academic competition where participants can learn about diplomacy, negations, international relations, and get an insight into the working of the United Nations. ICON 2017 aims to foster global citizenship and address current world issues related to regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, economic and social development, disarmament and nuclear security and the environment. We aim to create a platform for the delegates with interesting agendas, and an insight into the working of the United Nations, promoting diplomacy and global awareness.

The committees and agendas include:

• UNGA(SOCHUM) – social and humanitarian crises in South Sudan
• Historical Crisis committee- Indo- Pak War
• UNSC- The situation in Libya
• UNDP- implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTS) to achieve sustainable development
• Indian Loksabha- The transgender Persons (protection of rights) Bill, 2016
• International Press
