About ISLC – Information Society Law Center (University of Milan):

The Information Society Law Center (ISLC), hosted by the Department of Legal Sciences “Cesare Beccaria” of the University of Milan, is a multidisciplinary research Center, founded by Professor of Legal Informatics Giovanni Ziccardi in 2017 inside the “Cesare Beccaria” Department of Legal Sciences, devoted to the study of Legal Informatics, of Cyberspace Law and of the so called “Digital Transformation Law”, alongside the legaltechnologicalpolitical and social aspects of the modern Information Society.

The aim of the Center is to conduct research on issues related to the relationship between law and the digital society, with particular attention to those changes – present and future – that will deeply affect our society.

Fellowship Call for 2026–2027:

The ISLC – Information Society Law Center (University of Milan) is pleased to announce the opening of the Fellowship Call for 2026–2027, which will run from January 2026 to December 2027.

ISLC promotes interdisciplinary research on law and new technologies, welcoming scholars from around the world who wish to explore the legal, ethical, and social implications of technological innovation.

Area of Research:

In the upcoming biennium, research activities will focus on five thematic areas:

🔹 Videogames and Law:
Artificial Intelligence, Intellectual Property, Copyright, Consumer Protection, AI in Games, Licensing, Online Platforms, Age Verification, Violence, Videogame Business.

🔹 Geopolitics, Global Affairs and Human Rights:
Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Digital Policies, Governance, Diplomacy, Migration, War Crimes, Sovereignty, Big Tech, Surveillance, Disinformation, Information Warfare, Conspiracy Theories.

🔹 AI and Health:
Artificial Intelligence, HealthData, Telemedicine, Algorithmic Bias, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Predictive Analytics, Critical Infrastructure.

🔹 New Technologies and Vulnerable Groups:
Artificial Intelligence, Digital Inclusion, Discrimination, Digital Divide, Hate Speech, Gender and Technology, Digital Literacy, Bias and Fairness, Child Protection, Non-Consensual Pornography.

🔹 The Augmented Jurist:
Artificial Intelligence, Legal Tech, Smart Contracts, Legal Design, Natural Language Processing, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Computer Crimes, Data Protection, Platform Regulation, Accountability.
