Conference on Consumer Protection Act and Real Estate Act, Mumbai (June 29). Deadline -June 28.
Prior to the enactment of the RERA, aggrieved home-buyers had the options of either approaching the Civil Courts or the Consumer Fora.
However with the enactment of the new legislation, which not only seeks to protect the home-buyers but also boosts the investment in the real estate industry.
The Real Estate Act makes it mandatory for all commercial and residential real estate projects to register with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for launching a project, in order to provide greater transparency in project-marketing and execution.
Also, a major benefit for consumers included in the Act is that builders will have to quote prices based on carpet area, not super built-up area, while carpet area has been clearly defined in the Act to include usable spaces like kitchen and toilets.
The conference shall be inaugurated at the hands of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay Shrinivas Oka, Chief Justice of High Court at Karnataka.
