About the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL):

The Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) is a specialised multi-disciplinary research centre at NLSIU. Since its inception, CCL has combined research, direct field action, and teaching to advance child rights law in India.

  • Its mission is to ensure social justice, human rights, and dignity for all children.
  • The Centre focuses on food and nutrition security, equitable education, care, protection, and justice for marginalised and excluded children.

Call for Senior Research Associate:

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is inviting applications for one full-time role at its Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) for a period of one year.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position based at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru. The selected candidate will assist in socio-legal and policy research, training, and advocacy initiatives, primarily under the theme of Right to Food and Nutrition.

You will work closely with colleagues at CCL and contribute to impactful projects that bridge research and practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct policy research on food security and child rights.
  • Develop tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare research reports using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Support multi-stakeholder engagement with state departments and partners.
  • Design and refine training modules ensuring quality and rigour.
  • Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to NLS blogs.
  • Undertake other tasks supporting CCL’s ongoing initiatives.

Who Should Apply?

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Minimum 55% aggregate marks.

Experience (Essential)

  • At least 5 years of post-qualification work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in policy/socio-legal research.

Experience (Desirable)

  • Prior work in the social development sector, especially in food security or child rights.

Skills & Competencies (Essential)

  • Strong ability to write high-quality research reports.
  • Capacity to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Logical thinking and attention to detail.

Skills & Competencies (Desirable)

  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-skilled team.

Salary:

  • ₹75,000 – ₹1,00,000 per month (depending on qualifications, experience, and skills).
