About Allahabad University:

Established in 1887, the University of Allahabad is India’s fourth-oldest modern university and is often hailed as the “Oxford of the East.” Located in Prayagraj, it spans 400 acres and offers diverse faculties including arts, science, commerce, and law. The university has nurtured many eminent figures such as Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mahadevi Verma, and Dr. Zakir Hussain. About the Journal:

The Allahabad University Journal of Law & Policy (AUJLP) is a biannual, peer-reviewed publication by the Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad. As an inaugural venture, this journal aims to provide a forum for students, academics, and professionals to engage in discussions on varied issues of contemporary importance in domestic and international law and policy. This attempts to provide an extensive forum for the faculty to exchange their views and research with academia. The journal encourages and facilitates scholarly research, legal analysis, and the exchange of opinions within the legal field, ultimately contributing to the advancement of legal knowledge and practice. All submissions are subjected to a three-tier double-blind peer review process, ensuring high academic standards. As an open-access journal, it will be freely available on the University website to maximise accessibility and impact.

Call for Papers:

The ‘Allahabad University Journal of Law & Policy: Volume 1’ invites original, unpublished manuscripts from law students, academics, practitioners, judges, and professionals in India and abroad. While there is no prescribed theme, the paper pertaining to any branch of law and on the intersection of law and social science is open to acceptance. It is advisable to choose a theme that is of contemporary relevance and has an issue of law to be engaged with analytically. Papers dealing with foreign themes in any of the above categories should also engage with their relevance in the Indian Context.

Submission Categories:

▪ Short Articles: 3500 – 4500 words
▪ Long Articles: 5000 – 6000 words
▪ Case notes and/or Legislative Commentaries: 2000 – 5000 words
▪ Book Reviews: 1500 – 2000 words
NOTE: These word limits are exclusive of footnotes and merely indicative. Speaking footnotes are discouraged. The Editorial Board retains discretion with regard to flexibility in the word limit.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Formatting Guidelines for the main text:
    a. Font – Times New Roman
    b. Font size – 12 pts.
    c. Line spacing – 1.5
    d. Margin – 1” from all sides
    e. Alignment: Justified
  2. Formatting Guidelines for the headings:
    a. Headings – Bold, Capitalized, Size 14 pt., Left-aligned.
    b. Subheadings – Bold, Size 12 pt., Left-aligned.
    c. Internal Headings –
    i. First-level headings should be numbered I, II & so on.
    ii. Second-level headings should be numbered A, B & so on.
    iii. Third-level headings should be numbered (i), (ii) & so on.
  3. Formatting Guidelines for the footnotes:
    a. Font – Times New Roman
    b. Font size – 10 pts
    c. Line Spacing – 1.0
    d. Speaking Footnotes – Speaking Footnotes are impermissible.
  4. Title – Bold, Capitalized, Size 16 pt., Centre-aligned.
  5. Abstract – 200–300 words, followed by 5 keywords.
  6. Page Size of Manuscript – A-4 size, with 1-inch margins on all four sides.
  7. File Format – Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  8. Guidelines for Plagiarism:
    a. UGC Norms – Similarity is allowed as per UGC norms.
    b. Plagiarism Limit – Plagiarism beyond 10% will lead to the rejection of the manuscript. c. Plagiarism Check – All submissions will be mandatorily checked for AI and Plagiarised content.
  9. Details of Author(s) –
    a. Alongside every submission, the author(s) must include the cover letter in the body of the mail, which must contain all the relevant biographical details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of College/University/Institution, Postal Address, Phone Number, and Email ID).
    b. A separate attachment for a cover letter shall not be entertained. Additionally, it should also contain the author(s) self-declaration regarding the originality of the paper.
  10. Subject Matter of the Manuscript – The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue. The author(s) must ensure that the submission is critically evaluative while contributing to the existing literature/jurisprudence subject matter.
  11. Originality of the submission
    a. Submission shall be original work of the author(s). The submission shall not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere.
    b. Copyright declaration and certificate of originality to be attached as per the format provided.
  12. Co-authorship – It is limited to a maximum of two individuals. However, co-authorship is not allowed in “book reviews”.
  13. Identity of Author(s) –
    a. The contents should in no way, directly or indirectly, indicate or reference the identity of the author(s).
    b. The author(s) must attach a self-declaration regarding the originality and authenticity of the paper.
  14. General Submission Guidelines –
    a. Each Submission (except Book Review) should be accompanied by an abstract of about 200-250 words and at least 5 keywords.
    b. The authors are expected to adhere to the prescribed word limit (excluding footnotes and abstract), as indicated above.
    c. All references shall be made using footnotes. Endnotes and in-text citations are strictly prohibited.
    d. Submissions must conform to the HARVARD BLUEBOOK, 21st Edition.

Submission Deadline:

The deadline for the submission of manuscripts is 11:59 PM (IST) on 10th December, 2025.

Instructions For Publication:

Exclusive Submission Policy: The submission must exhibit originality in thought, critical evaluation, and careful interpretations. Submission of a paper shall be taken to imply that it is an unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. The publication must be an original, unpublished work of the Author(s) with proper citations for which a self-declaration of originality is to be submitted.

Copyright Policy: The editors’ decision shall be final and binding. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles, in addition to inter alia, any edits/amendments/reproductions. The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Journal Committee, Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad.

Indemnity for Liability: The journal assumes no liability for any infringement, and the author will bear full responsibility and any associated consequences. Additionally, if the journal suffers any loss due to the author’s action, the author will be required to indemnify the journal.

Editorial Policy:

All submissions shall be subjected to a three-tier double-blind peer review process to ensure high academic and editorial standards:

  • Tier 1- Preliminary Screening: An initial assessment shall be undertaken to determine at the outset whether the submissions fall within the mandate of the journal and comply with submission guidelines and plagiarism/AI policy. Manuscripts will be screened based on their substantive content and relevance of the topic.
  • Tier 2- Detailed Substantive and Stylistic Review: A comprehensive evaluation of manuscripts shall be undertaken, assessing factors including but not limited to originality, coherence, footnotes, structure, and clarity of arguments.
  • Tier 3- Final Stage of Review: At this stage, the manuscript, after a thorough review, may be accepted or sent back with suggested changes based on the verdict of the aforementioned Editorial Board.

NOTE: The editorial board reserves the right to reject the manuscript at any stage until the final acceptance has been communicated to the author(s).

Submission Procedure:

▪ The submissions must be made in a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format via e-mail through aujlp@allduniv.ac.in. in with the email title ‘Submission AUJLP’.
▪ The name of the attached submission in the email, i.e., the name of the document, must be the name(s) of the author(s).
▪ A cover letter pertaining to the details of the author(s) and a self-declaration form must be attached alongside every submission.
▪ Please note that only one submission per author or a team of co-authors is permissible. In case of more than one submission, only the one received first would be considered for review.
