Edited Volume: Juridical Foundations of Family Law in India: Emerging Principles, Constitutional Values and Contemporary Dynamics

Concept Note:

Family law in India occupies a unique and evolving position at the intersection of law, society, religion, culture, and constitutional governance. Traditionally rooted in personal laws and community-specific norms, family law has undergone significant transformation in response to constitutional mandates, judicial innovation, technological advancements, and changing social realities.

Contemporary debates surrounding gender justice, equality, privacy, LGBTQIA+ rights, live-in relationships, surrogacy, inheritance of digital assets, and child welfare have reshaped the discourse on family law jurisprudence. This edited volume seeks to critically examine the philosophical, constitutional, doctrinal, and socio-legal foundations of family law in India while engaging with emerging developments and future challenges.
