Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Nagpur, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, is committed to delivering contemporary and interdisciplinary legal education. About the Research and Publication Cell

The Research and Publication Cell (RPC) at SLS Nagpur fosters legal research, critical thinking, and scholarly writing. It provides students with opportunities to engage in research projects, article writing, seminars, workshops, and competitions. The Cell plays a pivotal role in cultivating analytical skills and preparing students for careers requiring strong research and publication capabilities.

About SymBLawg

SymBLawg is an annual publishing initiative and competition by the RPC, offering law students a platform to critically examine contemporary legal issues. The 2026 edition focuses on the socio-legal implications of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly its impact on privacy, autonomy, and environmental sustainability.

Key concerns include:

  • AI-driven profiling and erosion of individual autonomy.
  • Environmental costs of AI, including energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Corporate responsibility, ESG compliance, and carbon credits in the digital economy.

Themes for 2026

  1. Data Protection in the Age of Algorithms: Safeguarding Privacy in an AI-Driven World
    • Explore challenges to autonomy, privacy, and behavioural profiling.
  2. ESG and Carbon Credits: Regulating Environmental Impact in a Digitally Accelerated Economy
    • Examine AI’s environmental consequences, carbon footprint, resource exploitation, and greenwashing of ESG claims.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must align with one of the above themes.
  • Preferred length: 1300–1500 words.
  • Language: English only.
  • Format: MS Word (.doc/.docx), file named with paper title + author name(s).
  • Co-authorship allowed (maximum 2 authors).
  • Plagiarism limit: 10%; AI-generated content strictly prohibited.
  • Citations: Bluebook, 21st Edition.
  • Offensive or defamatory content will lead to disqualification.
  • Deadline: 30 September 2026.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12 (content), 10 (footnotes)
  • Alignment: Justified (content), Left-aligned (footnotes)
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (content), 1 (footnotes)

Publication Policy & Certification

  • Only 10 selected blogs will be published on the official SymBLawg platform.
  • Authors of accepted submissions will receive e-certificates of publication.
  • All participants will be awarded e-certificates of participation.
  • Copyright of published works will vest with the RPC, SLS Nagpur.
