About the Position:

NUSRL, Ranchi invites applications for the prestigious post of DPIIT‑IPR Chair Professor under the SPRIHA Scheme of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. The Chair is aimed at strengthening intellectual property education, research, and policy engagement at the national level.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

1. Served as, or eligible to serve as, a Professor/Associate Professor under UGC norms, with substantial teaching and research experience in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
2. Practicing IP attorney with at least 10 years of professional experience in IPR law, or any professional with significant recognition and no less than 10 years of experience in the field.
3. Retired official of the IP Office under CGPDTM, holding a doctorate degree, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience at Level 12 or above (e.g., Controller of Patents & Designs, Registrar of Trademarks & Geographical Indications, Registrar of Copyrights).

Age Limit: Individuals above 70 years are not eligible.
Tenure: Up to 5 years from the date of appointment.
Nature of Appointment: Full‑time contractual basis.
Salary: ₹1.5 lakhs per month (consolidated).

Functions & Activities of the Chair:

The IPR Chair will be responsible for:

• Introducing IPR courses at undergraduate level (mandatory credit course).
• Designing postgraduate degree/diploma courses specializing in IPR.
• Developing doctoral and post‑doctoral curricula in IPR.
• Offering certificate, distance learning, and online courses in IPR.
• Facilitating scholarships and fellowships for research in emerging IPR areas.
• Establishing a repository of IPR case studies and resources (physical and electronic).
• Initiating and collaborating on research projects with national and international stakeholders.
• Conducting workshops, seminars, and round‑table conferences.
• Providing inputs to legislature, executive, and judiciary on IPR law and policy.
• Assisting DPIIT in IPR‑related policy activities.
• Supporting filing of IPR applications (patents, copyrights, etc.) to strengthen India’s knowledge economy.
• Enrolling Ph.D. scholars in IPR as per UGC/AICTE norms.
• Reporting annually and periodically to DPIIT and the University on activities and outcomes.
