The National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, established in 1997, is a premier institution for legal education and research in India. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI), NLIU is committed to shaping legal minds through an interdisciplinary and innovative approach. The University also focuses on emerging areas such as copyright protection and intellectual property rights.

About the NLIU-DPIIT IPR Chair

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has established an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Chair at NLIU, Bhopal. The initiative is part of the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia (SPRIHA), aligned with the National IPR Policy. The Chair promotes IPR education, research and outreach and seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry through research and academic activities.

About the Competition

The First Edition of the National Blog Writing Competition, 2026, organised by the NLIU-DPIIT IPR Chair, invites law students, academicians, researchers and legal professionals to critically examine contemporary issues in intellectual property law. The competition seeks to promote critical research, innovative thinking, originality and engagement with emerging IPR issues, while providing opportunities for publication, recognition, cash prizes and internships.

The sub-themes are based on the topics specified in the brochure.

Awards & Recognition

• First Prize: ₹5,000 + Certificate of Participation
• Second Prize: ₹3,000 + Certificate of Participation
• Third Prize: ₹1,000 + Certificate of Participation

Registration Fee

• Single Author: ₹300

Registration must be completed through the prescribed registration form. Registration will be considered valid only upon payment of the prescribed fee.

Submission Guidelines

• Word Limit: 1,000–2,500 words, inclusive of footnotes.
• Nature of Manuscript: Manuscripts must be highly analytical and arrive at a definite conclusion on the subject matter.
• Originality: Submissions must be original and unpublished and must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere.
• Plagiarism: Plagiarism in any form will result in immediate rejection. Plagiarism below 10% is permitted.
• Citations: Citations must conform to OSCOLA 4th Edition and only footnotes may be used. Substantive footnoting is not permitted.
• Strict adherence to the prescribed word limit is advised.

Publication Ethics

All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism. The brochure further requires that submissions contain 0% AI-generated content and be entirely original and written by the participant. Authors are also required to ensure the accuracy and integrity of their data, disclose potential conflicts of interest, provide appropriate authorship credit and acknowledge individuals or organisations that supported the research.

• Declaration of Results: Last week of November 2026
