NISM is best known for conducting the mandatory certification examinations required for professionals like mutual fund distributors, research analysts, and investment advisers, with over three lakh certified individuals across India.
The swift progress of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is changing how societies generate, interact, govern, and decide. GenAI has become one of the most significant technological advancements of the twenty-first century, capable of producing human-like text, images, and audiovisual material, as well as shaping public dialogue and institutional procedures. Though these advancements present significant potential for economic development, societal advancement, and enhanced governance, they simultaneously provoke serious legal, ethical, and human rights issues. The growing incorporation of generative AI into daily life has sparked pressing inquiries about privacy, accountability, transparency, freedom of expression, equality, and justice. The gathering and utilization of large datasets for training AI systems frequently conflicts with traditional ideas of consent, data ownership, and information privacy. Simultaneously, the emergence of deepfakes, algorithmic prejudice, false information, automated monitoring, and unclear decision-making frameworks presents serious dangers to democratic systems and basic rights. In a worldwide digital environment where technological advancements surpass geographical limits, conventional legal systems are finding it difficult to effectively address new challenges. Issues of responsibility, jurisdiction, regulatory alignment, and international digital governance have emerged as pivotal in current legal discussions.
