Yuva Shodh Pratibha Scheme | ICSSR | Youth and Decolonisation | Grant Up to Rs. 3 Lac | Apply by 31st July 2026

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has launched the Yuva Shodh Pratibha Scheme (YSPS) on 12 May 2026 to empower undergraduate students under NEP 2020, with the central theme for 2026–27 being “Youth and Decolonisation.” Applications are open from 6 June 2026 and the last date is 31 July 2026, offering up to ₹3 lakh financial support per project.

Key Highlights of ICSSR–YSPS

Objective

  • To decolonise knowledge systems by encouraging students to challenge Eurocentric models and develop Bharatiya perspectives.
  • Promote original thinking, interdisciplinary inquiry, and context-based knowledge production.
  • Build a generation of social science and humanities researchers contributing to Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in Four-Year UG Programmes under NEP 2020.
  • Students in 6th and 7th semesters may apply.
  • Teams of 2–3 students from the same institution, led by a Lead Researcher, under the mentorship of a faculty member.

  1. Decolonising Narrative: Indo-Aryan Theory
  2. Decolonising Education and Research Methodology
  3. Beyond Macaulay: History, Culture, and Language
  4. Health, Mind, and Well-being
  5. Economic and Financial Sovereignty
  6. Decolonising Finance, Trade, and Commerce
  7. Decolonising Governance, Law, and Political Thought
  8. Rural Development, Environment, and Knowledge Systems

Funding & Duration

  • Financial support: Up to ₹3.00 lakh per project.
  • Duration: 8 months.
  • Funds must be utilized as per ICSSR guidelines, monitored by the mentor and institution.

  • Commencement of Online Applications: 6 June 2026
  • Last Date for Submission: 6 July 2026
  • Extended Deadline: 31 July 2026

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Projects must be conducted under faculty supervision.
  • Emphasis on teamwork, shared methodologies, and collective problem-solving.
