About DPIIT:

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has been implementing an internship scheme to provide students with valuable exposure to the functioning of the Government of India. The initiative is designed to familiarize students with the working culture of the Department and its various schemes, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and practical governance.

About the Internship:

The internship scheme is conducted twice every year through an online application portal:

• Application Window 1: 1st March – 30th April (for internships during June–August).
• Application Window 2: 1st September – 31st October (for internships during November–January).

Applications received during each window are considered only for the corresponding internship period. Databases of applicants are cleared at the end of each cycle to maintain transparency and efficiency.

Eligibility:

• Students pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or Research degrees in recognized universities/institutions in India or abroad are eligible.
• Eligible domains include:
  • Engineering
  • Management
  • Law
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Computers
  • Library Management
• Candidates from other disciplines may also be considered on a case‑to‑case basis depending on departmental requirements.

Duration:

• Internship duration ranges from one month to three months, depending on the student’s choice and departmental approval.
• Interns who satisfactorily complete the internship will be awarded an Experience Certificate.
• Failure to complete the requisite period will result in no certificate or stipend being awarded.

Number of Interns:

• A maximum of 20 interns will be selected at a time.

Stipend:

• Interns will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 per month.

Interested candidates must apply online through the official DPIIT portal. Applications submitted outside the designated windows will not be considered.

The current application window closes on 30th April 2026.
