About the Competition:

The Gavelled Moot Court Competition is the flagship event of LPU School of Law. The 7th edition (01–03 April 2026) focuses on criminal adjudication in the digital age, examining evidentiary integrity of forensic data, electronic surveillance, and witness testimony. The moot problem challenges participants on issues of procedural fairness, chain of custody, and technological reliability.

Eligibility:

  • Open to all bona fide undergraduate law students (3-year/5-year courses).
  • One team per institution.

Registration:

  • Fee: ₹6500/- (₹6000/- for early registration by 10 March 2026, 11:59 PM).
  • Last date: 17 March 2026, 11:59 PM.

Competition Format:

  • 01 April: Researcher’s Test & Inaugural
  • 02 April: Preliminary Rounds & Pre-Quarter Finals
  • 03 April: Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, Grand Finale & Valedictory Ceremony

Team Composition:

  • Each team: 2 speakers + 1 researcher.
  • Alterations allowed only with committee approval before memorial submission.

Memorials:

  • Both sides (Appellant & Respondent), 5 copies each.
  • Appellant cover: Blue; Respondent cover: Red.
  • Max 35 pages, Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing; Footnotes size 10, Bluebook (20th ed.).
  • Evaluation: 100 marks (Knowledge 30, Analysis 30, Research 20, Organization 10, Grammar/Style 10).

Oral Rounds:

  • Preliminary: 25 minutes per team (10 min minimum per speaker).
  • Semi-Finals & Finals: 45 minutes per team (15–30 min per speaker).
  • Evaluation: 100 marks per speaker (Knowledge, Application, Ingenuity, Style, Time Management, Organization).

Awards:

  • Winning Team: Trophy + Certificate + ₹51,000/-
  • Runner-up Team: Trophy + Certificate + ₹31,000/-
  • Best Speaker: Trophy + Certificate + ₹10,000/-
  • Best Researcher: Trophy + Certificate + ₹10,000/-
  • Best Memorial: Trophy + Certificate + ₹10,000/-
  • All participants: Certificates
