MMCS International Maritime Arbitration Competition (MIMAC) 2026:

The Maldives Moot Court Society (MMCS) proudly announces the return of the International Maritime Arbitration Competition (MIMAC) in 2026. Following its remarkable inaugural edition in 2025, MIMAC continues to provide law students worldwide with a unique platform to sharpen their advocacy, research, and oral argument skills in a simulated international arbitration setting.


About MIMAC:

  • Focus: Maritime law & arbitration, reflecting the Maldives’ reliance on shipping, fishing, and tourism.
  • Structure:
    1. Drafting written submissions (Claimant & Respondent).
    2. Oral arguments before distinguished arbitrators and academics.
  • Legacy: In 2025, MIMAC attracted 100+ students, 26 teams, 10 countries, and was judged by 50+ practitioners and academics.

MIMAC is more than a competition—it is an opportunity to learn, compete, and excel in one of the world’s most vital industries.

  • Process: Submit the official Registration Form via the MIMAC 2026 portal.

Moot Problem Co-Authors:

  • William Patrick McPhilamy III: Lawyer, mediator, arbitrator (Harvard-trained, Cambridge LL.M.), with expertise in ADR and international arbitration.
  • Harshal Babarao Bhale: Maritime law specialist, alumnus of NUSRL Ranchi, experienced in charter party disputes, maritime claims, and compliance with international conventions.
