Call for Abstracts for its 2nd Transnational Junior Faculty Forum 2026 jointly hosted by the German Law Journal and Max Planck Law.

Overview:

Following the success of its inaugural edition, the Transnational Junior Faculty Forum returns for its second iteration, jointly hosted by the German Law Journal and Max Planck Law. This prestigious academic gathering will convene in Munich on 3–4 September 2026, offering a vibrant platform for early-career legal scholars to present and refine their research.

Theme Focus: The Law of Digital Value Chains

Digitization is transforming the fabric of social, political, and economic systems. At the heart of this transformation lies the digital value chain—a complex web of data-driven services, platforms, and actors operating across jurisdictions and legal domains. This forum seeks to explore how law interacts with these evolving structures, addressing challenges and opportunities in areas such as:

• Contract and Property Law
• Company and Competition Law
• Intellectual Property and Data Governance
• Trade, Environmental, and Human Rights Law
• Regional, National, Supranational, and International Legal Frameworks

Submission Guidelines:

Early-career scholars from all legal disciplines are invited to submit extended abstracts (approx. 500 words). Submissions should clearly outline:

• The core research problem
• Theoretical or conceptual framework
• Methodological approach
• A brief prospective bibliography

Interdisciplinary and critical approaches are especially welcome. Selected participants will present their papers, receive detailed feedback from senior academics and peers, and engage in robust discussions on the legal dimensions of digital transformation.

• Full Article Submission Deadline: 23 August 2026

• No registration fee
• Limited funding available for participants based outside Europe
