National Appellate Moot Court Competition | Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College | Pune | Register by 20th Jan 2026

About the Institution:

The Deccan Education Society (DES), established in Pune in 1884 by eminent nationalists and reformers, has been a cornerstone of Indian education for over a century. With its commitment to blending modern pedagogy and traditional values, DES has nurtured generations of leaders across diverse fields.

Among its prestigious institutions, Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College (SNFLC), Pune, stands out as a hub for legal education. Now entering its 21st year, the college has consistently adapted to the evolving demands of the global legal order. Through innovative teaching, experiential learning, and emphasis on advocacy, SNFLC has carved a niche as a forward-looking law school preparing students for both litigation and corporate practice.

About the Event:

The Lokmanya Tilak National Appellate Moot Court Competition (LTNA) is one of India’s distinguished moot court events, conducted annually in memory of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak—a visionary nationalist, reformer, and advocate of education as a tool for empowerment.

Now in its 18th edition, the competition continues to uphold Tilak’s ideals of intellectual rigor and civic responsibility. Over the years, LTNA has become a premier platform for law students to sharpen their legal reasoning, research, and advocacy skills while engaging with complex issues of corporate law, constitutional principles, and regulatory frameworks.

Moot Proposition 2026:

This year’s problem revolves around a foreign investor’s exit from an Indian company, raising intricate questions on:

  • The enforceability of shareholder agreements under the Companies Act, 2013.
  • The scope of FEMA (Non-Debt Instruments) Rules, 2019 in regulating exit valuations.
  • Whether “gold-plating” of expenses and valuation manipulation can amount to oppression and mismanagement under Section 241.

The case promises to challenge participants with a blend of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and shareholder rights, making it both practically relevant and academically stimulating.
