WEBINAR on Pop Culture and Human Rights, by Anand College of Legal Studies [Aug 5]: Register by Aug 4
The influence of Pop Culture on Human Rights began 10 years ago as an experiment of using media and popular culture to advance the cause of human rights. The very first effort, in the form of the album and music video on women’s rights, ‘Mann Ke Manjeere’, was an astounding success with the album staying in the top 10 for six months on MTV. Since then, breakthroughs have emerged as a potential force using popular culture to bring attention to domestic violence, women and HIV/AIDS, detention and deportation, immigrant rights and other crucial rights issues. In this backdrop, the webinar would explain the future course of action for teaching human rights through pop culture.
