About National Law University Delhi
Established in 2008 through the initiative of the High Court of Delhi and the Government of NCT of Delhi, NLU Delhi is one of India’s premier law universities. The University hosts several research centres, including the Centre on Law & Urban Development, and has been recognised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) as a Regional Centre for research on urban housing affairs since May 2026.
About the Research Project
The position is part of a MoHUA‑funded project titled: “Housing for All in Viksit Bharat: A Review of the Legal Framework and Procedural Bottlenecks to Optimise Affordable Housing in Delhi & Haryana.”
The project aims to:
- Map the legal framework governing housing in Delhi and Haryana.
- Identify procedural bottlenecks through stakeholder consultations.
- Assist policymakers in improving access to affordable housing for socioeconomically weaker sections.
Position Details
- Role: Research Associate
- Vacancy: One
- Remuneration: ₹50,000 per month (consolidated)
- Nature of Appointment: Contractual
- Duration: One year (extendable subject to performance and project requirements)
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct research, review statutes, policies, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
- Undertake doctrinal, empirical, and comparative research.
- Draft reports, briefs, research papers, and working papers.
- Coordinate with project investigators and external consultants.
Eligibility
- LL.M. with specialisation (preferably in Constitutional Law, Real Estate Law, or Urban Development Law) from a recognised Indian or foreign university.
- Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- Good academic record.
- Demonstrable research work/publications and interest in urban studies, constitutional law, municipal laws, real estate, and allied areas.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with quantitative/qualitative research methods.
- Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools.
- Prior experience in research projects.
- Strong academic writing skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
