2nd National IP Law Moot Court Competition, 2026 – RGNUL, Patiala:

The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, proudly presents the 2nd National Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition, 2026.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition, this prestigious event is designed to simulate real‑world IP litigation, bridging the gap between academic learning and courtroom practice.

About RGNUL:

Established under the Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006, RGNUL is recognized as a premier law university of national stature. With a fully developed residential campus, 20+ specialized centres, and five academic journals, RGNUL emphasizes research, training, and consultancy in contemporary legal fields.

About CIIPR:

The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights serves as a hub for advanced research and capacity‑building in IP law. It organizes seminars, conferences, workshops, and moot courts to foster collaboration between academia and practice, equipping students with analytical and advocacy skills in the evolving IP landscape.

Tentative Schedule:

  • Release of Proposition & Guidelines: 20 January 2026
  • Last Date of Registration: 5 February 2026
  • Memorial Submission: 20 February 2026
  • Results of Memorial Qualifier Rounds: 25 February 2026
  • Oral Rounds (Offline): 9–10 March 2026
  • Valedictory Ceremony: 10 March 2026

Format of Competition:

Memorial Qualifier Rounds:

  • Teams of two members.
  • Written memorials for both sides of the dispute.
  • Top 16 teams qualify for oral rounds.
  • Evaluation based on knowledge of law, research depth, clarity, originality, and adherence to rules.

Oral Rounds:

  • Preliminary Rounds: Each team argues once from both sides; top 4 advance.
  • Semi‑Finals & Final: Knock‑out basis, arguments restricted to submitted memorials.
  • Oral evaluation focuses on advocacy skills, responsiveness, court etiquette, and time management.

Registration & Fees:

  • ₹1500 per team (Early Bird till 27 January 2026).
  • ₹2000 per team thereafter (exclusive of GST).
  • Registration Deadline: 5 February 2026.
  • Payment and registration links available via official RGNUL channels.

Awards & Prizes:

  • Winners: ₹12,000
  • Runner‑up: ₹8,000
  • Best Memorial: ₹5,000
  • Best Speaker: ₹5,000
  • Plus: Exciting internship opportunities for top performing teams.
