Call for Applications – Justice S. Rangarajan Legal Aid Fellowship (Fourth Batch)

The Indian Council of Legal Aid and Advice (ICLAA) invites applications for the fourth batch of the Justice S. Rangarajan Legal Aid Fellowship, a unique opportunity for first‑generation law graduates to gain structured exposure to legal aid practice and public interest litigation.

About ICLAA

Founded in 1972 by eminent jurists including Justice Y.V. Chandrachud, Justice P.N. Bhagwati, and Shri H.R. Gokhale, ICLAA is one of India’s oldest legal aid organizations. With a legacy of promoting access to justice, it is currently chaired by Senior Advocate Sanjay Parikh.

About the Fellowship

• Location: Delhi High Court, under the auspices of ICLAA
• Duration: 3 months (extendable to 6 months)
• Nature: Part‑time, in‑person (20 hours/week)
• Stipend: ₹10,000 per month
• Certification: Certificate of Completion from ICLAA

Objectives

• Provide hands‑on experience in litigation and legal aid services.
• Foster understanding of socio‑legal issues including environmental justice, gender rights, human rights violations, and rights of undertrials.
• Promote long‑term commitment to pro bono work and access to justice.

Roles & Responsibilities

Selected Fellows will:

• Offer legal advice and assistance to individuals approaching ICLAA.
• Conduct legal research on issues of public importance.
• Liaise with grassroots organizations lacking legal representation.
• Assist in legal awareness initiatives in underserved communities.

Eligibility

• First‑generation law graduates with 0–3 years of litigation experience.
• Demonstrated interest in human rights, access to justice, or public interest law.

Selection Process

• Shortlisting based on submitted documents.
• Interviews on 4th October 2026.
• Final selection by an expert panel.
