NUSRL Ranchi Students, Faculty and Staff Join Cleanliness Drive “Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign”
Law is often understood through books, statutes, judgments and courtrooms. But the true purpose of legal education goes beyond the classroom. It is also about understanding responsibility towards society, respecting public spaces and contributing to the community.
This spirit was visible at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, where students, faculty members and staff came together under the “Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign” to participate in a cleanliness drive across the University campus.
The initiative highlighted the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and encouraging cleanliness as a regular part of everyday life. The campaign also conveyed the broader message that cleanliness is not merely an institutional responsibility but a shared civic responsibility.
During the campaign, students and members of the NUSRL community actively participated in cleanliness activities across different areas of the University campus. The participants collected waste from the surrounding areas and ensured its disposal at designated locations.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of NUSRL Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil Said that the initiative aimed to create greater awareness about maintaining a clean and healthy environment while encouraging students and staff members to develop responsible habits in their daily lives.
For a law student, the Constitution, laws and judicial decisions provide an understanding of rights and duties. However, citizenship is not confined to knowing what the law says.
The NUSRL cleanliness campaign provided students with an opportunity to experience this responsibility beyond their classrooms and libraries.
They were not merely studying the idea of “duty” they were putting it into practice.
The cleanliness drive became a different kind of classroom for the students.
There were no textbooks, lecture notes or examinations. Instead, there was a simple message: “The society that law students will one day serve is the same society they must care for today.”
By participating in the cleanliness campaign, students demonstrated that legal education can have a social dimension that extends beyond academic learning.
For students pursuing legal education, these values are particularly significant because tomorrow’s lawyers, judges, academics, policymakers and public administrators will have important roles in shaping society.
The Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign reminds us that a clean society cannot be created only through government initiatives or institutional efforts. It requires participation from citizens, particularly young people who will shape the future of the country.
The participation of NUSRL Ranchi students demonstrates how educational institutions can create opportunities where academic knowledge meets social action.
The NUSRL Ranchi cleanliness campaign beautifully demonstrates that legal education does not have to remain confined to classrooms, libraries and courtrooms.
The cleanliness campaign at NUSRL Ranchi, was featured by DD Jharkhand in its special programme on the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign.
The programme highlights the participation of NUSRL Ranchi students, faculty members and staff and showcases the University’s efforts to promote cleanliness, civic responsibility and social awareness.
🌿 Clean Campus. Clean Environment. Responsible Citizens.
Because a better society is not built only through laws.
It is built when people choose to live by responsibility.
