Yell Club, the premier public speaking and debate society of the Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), MAHE is back with its legendary flagship event. Organized in association with MIC’s annual fest, Article 19, Pro.Verb makes its grand return after seven years—bigger, sharper and bolder than ever.
The Legacy & The New Era
First launched in 2015 to honor the veteran journalist, founding father, and former Honorary Director of MIC, M.V. Kamath, Pro.Verb originally followed the British Parliamentary format. After an involuntary hiatus since 2019, we are reviving this prestigious national competition in 2026 with a high-stakes twist: Indian Parliamentary Style Debate.
The Challenge: Trial by Argument
Debaters will tackle real-world, high-profile legal and societal cases that have recently unfolded across India. Teams must analyze complex verdicts, pick a side, and persuasively argue whether justice was truly served. Expect rapid-fire arguments, sharp cross-examinations and intense courtroom-style banter.
Event Highlights & Structure
Target Audience: Open to 11th & 12th Grade (PUC) and Undergraduate students nationwide.
Team Composition: Exactly 2 members per team (strictly 1 team per institution).
Scoring System: Individual performances are scored independently, directly contributing to your overall team ranking. Individual speakers can win awards alongside team trophies!
