The Nyayashastra Moot Court Competition is more than a contest—it is a celebration of legal scholarship and advocacy. The competition will unfold in two stages:

• Virtual Rounds: 22nd & 23rd October 2026
• On-Campus Rounds: 5th November 2026

Participants will engage with a carefully drafted moot proposition that raises complex questions of law, including issues under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, Hindu Succession Act, 1956, Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021.

This competition provides:

• Practical exposure to real-world legal complexities.
• Opportunities to strengthen oral advocacy and legal writing.
• Interaction with esteemed judges and legal experts.
• A platform to test analytical reasoning and courtroom skills.

Moot Proposition Highlights

The moot proposition presents a civil appellate dispute before the Supreme Court of India, raising intricate questions of law and constitutional interpretation. Key issues include:

1. Validity of Marriage: Whether a Hindu marriage solemnised when the gender certificate was pending is legally valid.
2. Withdrawal of Consent under ART Act: Whether Aadi’s email constituted effective withdrawal before embryo transfer and its consequences.
3. Parentage and Child Rights: Whether Ira, born through ART, is legally recognized as Aadi’s child despite withdrawal and clinic breach.
4. Succession and Gender Transition: Whether succession devolves under male or female intestate schemes of the Hindu Succession Act, and how constitutional equality principles apply.

The proposition challenges participants to interpret statutory provisions in light of Articles 14, 15, and 21 of the Constitution, balancing personal autonomy, gender identity, and welfare of the child.
